Will GTA 6 Have Cheat Codes?Likely, but not confirmed
Rockstar has not said a word about GTA 6 cheats. History says they are likely. The method is the open question.
What Rockstar has said
Nothing so far. The GTA VI announcements cover the launch date of November 19, 2026, and the platforms, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. None of them mention cheats. If you want every announcement in order, WikiGTAVI keeps a dated GTA 6 timeline. We will update this page the moment Rockstar says anything about cheats.
How Rockstar has handled cheats, game by game
- GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas
Button combos on the controller. On PC you typed words during play.
- GTA IV
Every cheat moved to the in-game phone as a number to dial.
- GTA V
Button combos came back. The PS4 and Xbox One versions added phone numbers, and the PC version added a typed cheat box.
- Red Dead Redemption 2
Cheats became phrases typed into a Cheats menu. Players found many of them by reading in-game newspapers.
- GTA 6
Unknown until November 19, 2026.
What this means for you
If GTA 6 uses button combos or phone numbers, the GTA V codes on our GTA 6 cheat codes list are the first to try on launch night. If it uses typed phrases like Red Dead Redemption 2, players will find the codes in the days after launch, and we will add them with a test date as soon as we confirm each one.
Either way, cheats will almost certainly be story mode only. See why cheats do not work in GTA 6 Online.
Questions
Has Rockstar confirmed GTA 6 cheats?
No. As of October 18, 2026, no Rockstar announcement for GTA VI mentions cheat codes.
Why do people expect GTA 6 to have cheats?
Every main Grand Theft Auto game since GTA III has had them, and Red Dead Redemption 2 had them too.
Will the GTA 6 cheats be the same as GTA V?
Probably not all of them. Rockstar has changed codes and methods between games before. GTA V's codes are the best starting point, not a guarantee.
